On April 18, 2006, Wachovia celebrated the launch of the "Wachovia Volunteers" Chapter in Roanoke.  Wachovia Volunteers is a locally governed organization to guide and promote the initiatives for employee volunteerism in the local communities in which Wachovia operates.

Wachovia's pilot project to launch the new chapter is a partnership for an accelerated build with HFHRV.  Over 150 employees have signed up to participate in the build which began in June on 17th Street.
